GIGS 2003
(all in Aberystwyth except where it says)

CLOSER XMAS PARTY - HANBURY BALLROOM, BRIGHTON 07/12/0003

I played 'Straight to Video' at this. it was fun, all the people there were really nice. Thanks to Mark.

CLOSER - HANBURY BALLROOM, BRIGHTON 02/11/0003

First gig in Brighton and it went well, there weren't a lot of people there and most of the people who turned up to see the opening act all lived in Lewes so they all had to leave to get the last train back. Still i played really well (he said modestly) apart from the groovebox fucking up on every single song (sigh). My setlist was:

they even let me play over curfew because i came up with some shit about having written the last song specially.

SQUEEZEBOX SUPPORT - Y CWPS 13/6/0003(09)

A much better and more definitely FINAL performance as a student in aber. be nice to go back and do another one. was very pleased that there were about twice as many people watching me as as squeezebox who seemed a bit rubbish, the other band Sal were quite good though. i really felt a positive reaction to this gig which was nice. Setlist was:

    1.B.O.A.T.S.
    2.Vote With Yr Feet
    3.2 Bullets
    4.The Cynical Little Train
    5.Life's Too Good
    6.I dream of Soledad
    7.Straight to Video
    8.Last Song Ever
    and an ENCORE (wow!) of
    9.Keep it Real.

INDIESOC JAM NIGHT - THE BAY 5/6/0003

A nice third and final performance by the PWLband. Despite cries of 'FUOD' at the start from some silly tart. Even more astonishing from the fact that we hadn't played together for over a year. Setlist was:

    1.Keep it Real
    2.Ideas & Fighting
    3.Goodnight
    4.Straight to Video
5.2 Bullets (featuring Caroline Ryder on drums).

JAPE SUPPORT @ THE CASTLE PUB - 31/5/0003

I'm sick of crap sound. Utterly sick of it. I also seem to be cursed when i support Jape to have a crap gig. Not as bad as last time but still pretty shit. Likely at time of writing to be my last gig in aber as well. Setlist:

    1.Vote With Your Feet
    2.It's a fucking shame
    3.Keep it Real
    4.B.O.A.T.S.
    5.The Cynical Little Train
    6.I dream of Soledad
    7.Life's too good.

ACOUSTIC NIGHT (organised by Jamie FAE/red tape) - THE COOPERS ARMS 31/3/0003(08)

nice six act lineup featuring ana, kilby from FAE, Monster Dog (a.k.a. stev), red tape, oxygen thief (a.k.a. barry from Nuclear fish). it was good. i particularly enjoyed Monster Dog's song about birthdays. My setlist was thus:

    1.Its a fucking shame
    2.Keep it real
    3.The Cynical little train
    4.Matthew/Mark
    5.2 Bullets
    6.Life's too good
    7.B.O.A.T.S.
    8. Straight to Video.
    yawn.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY - THE JOINT 11/3/0003

first gig of the year w/Gilespi and Petrol Monkey. Almost like a mini battle of the bands reunion without the wankers. i played nicely and sweetly and made irreverent comments like 'there aren't many people here - obviously aren't as many women as people thought'. Setlist:

    1.It's a fucking shame
2.If you were a Kilroy Guest
    3.Keep it real
    4.Life's too good
    5.Here (by Pavement)
    6. 2 Bullets
    7.B.O.A.T.S.
    8. The Killing Moon (by echo and the bunnymen)
    9.Straight to Video
