GIGS 2002
(all in Aberystwyth)

INDIESOC BAY BRAWL - 13/11/0002

I hated all the bullshit that was going around before this gig and nearly pulled out of playing at the last minute. Glad i didn't cos i enjoyed the gig but i was SO pissed off with the other bands over it all. Setlist:

THE HOT PUPPIES/FIRST AMONG EQUALS - Y CWPS 9/11/0002(07)

Well fuck me the glittering new venue that is the coopers' arms once again plays host to p.w.l. another eerily quiet crowd. i don't know which is worse. when people aren't talking at all or clearly are talking too much to listen. Setlist:

    1.B.O.A.T.S.
    2.Keep it real
    3.In threes...?
    4.Straight to Video
    5.Life's too good

    7.One Eye on the Clock
    8.Matthew/Mark.

THE HOT PUPPIES HALLOWEEN GIG @ Y CWPS 31/10/0002(06)

Back to the cwps and a typically disinterested/loud crowd talking over me and that. ho hum. i was happy with how i played though, even having a run through of jaded wannabe parade for old times' sake. didn't help that the first i knew of the gig was when i saw a poster for it on the monday. One Eye on the Clock went down particularly well and did make people look up for a while. I'm sick of playing the coopers. Setlist:

    1.B.O.A.T.S.
    2.Asking you to dance
3.If you were a Kilroy guest
    4.Jaded Wannabe Parade
    5.Goodnight
    6.Straight to video
    7.Last Song Ever
    8.One Eye on the Clock.

PETROL MONKEY SUPPORT @ HARLEY'S 26/7/0002

First gig as a third year and another really good one. Seems i'm charmed when i play alongside Alex Petrol Monkey. Lots of new songs played that went down really well. Got some new fans/groupies too which is always good. String broke halfway through and ended up using Jon Petrol Monkey's guitar (thanks). Setlist was:

    1.B.O.A.T.S.
    2.Straight to Video
    3.In Threes...?
    4.Guilt-free shag
5.Apple Blossom (by the White Stripes)
    6.Asking you to Dance
7.If you were a Kilroy guest
    8.Last Song Ever.

SONGWRITER'S CIRCLE - THE COOPERS ARMS - 1/5/0002(05)

I really enjoyed playing this gig. It was great to have a load of new songs to play and do something a bit different. Playing alongside Alex Petrol Monkey (who stole the show with an acoustic version of 'A Fisheee' and Greg Haines (a.k.a. Arms of Sleep). My setlist was:

    1.Xmas song
    2.Control
    3.In threes?
4.Last song ever (provisional title - later actual title)
5.Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes song (provisional title - later renamed 'B.O.A.T.S.')
    6.Asking you to dance
    7.The cynical little Train
    8.Life's too good
9.Straight to Ziggy-O (bootleg style mix of my song with the bowie classic).
It was wicked i really enjoyed it and so did alex and greg. thanks if you came.

VIBRATION WHITE FINGER - THE COOPERS ARMS - 26/4/0002(04)

We were really pissed off with this gig because we had really shit sound, we cut our set short in frustration. Grrr... Setlist:

    1.Jaded Wannabe Parade
    2.Life's too good
    3.Ideas and Fighting
    4.Railway Dream
    5.Straight to Video
    6.Goodnight.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS - THE JOINT - 25/4/0002

We wuz robbed, frankly. I was really happy with the rockier sound of the band and we played pretty well but we came last because of the 'friend factor'. The set was thus:

    1.Ideas and Fighting
    2.Jaded Wannabe Parade
    3.Asking you to dance
    4.Railway Dream
    5.Sweet Jenny
    6.Goodnight
    7.Life's too good
    8.Straight to Video.

(this gig was recorded)

    2. Shoe Nazis
    3.Straight to video
    4.Maybe it'll rain frogs
    5. Xmas song
